Garden & Gun Magazine Selects Doorman Designs for Made in the South Awards

We are so delighted to see that Garden & Gun Magazine selected Doorman Designs’ Josephine Canopy Bed as one of the winners for their 7th annual Made in the South Awards!

Each year the southern based lifestyle magazine scours the South to find the most creative and innovating products. There are 6 competing categories ranging from smooth bourbons to sophisticated handmade leather bags. Our Josephine bed was selected as one of the winners for the Home category.

Thousands of talented artisans, chefs, and craftsman entered the contest from 15 states across the Southeast and only 24 winners were selected among the 6 main categories. The wide range of winning items spans from Pogue Mohone’s batches of spicy mustard to Dower’s stunning leather handbags.  Doorman Designs competed in the home category and is featured with other truly special and talented businesses. The winners of the home category were Terrane Glass Designs (grand prized winner), Assemblage Bespoke Wallpaper, Monolith Studio Knives, and us…Doorman Designs!

I started building my furniture creations in the backyard of my New Orleans apartment building nearly 8 years ago. Even then, as a small and passionate business owner the thought and dream of being showcased in Garden & Gun was a far off dream that I knew was possible but would take a lot of work and determination to achieve. Luckily Doorman Designs has outgrown my backyard, and we’ve grown to a family of 4 talented artisans and craftsmen that now design and build everything in our Uptown New Orleans workshop. Thank you Garden & Gun. It’s an honor and dream come true!
