Every piece of  Furniture should tell a story

Located in New Orleans, and founded by Alex Geriner, Doorman Designs creates unique, storied furniture for today’s modern homes. The idea was born in 2009 when Alex created a bed using reclaimed wood salvaged from a Hurricane Katrina-damaged cottage. Doorman Designs is inspired by the history, lyricism and landscape of the Gulf South. In their workshop along the Mississippi River, Alex and his team of artisans meticulously execute his vision using reclaimed and responsibly-sourced materials including centuries-old cypress, pine, ash wood, iron and pressed tin.

Made and designed in one of America’s most evocative cities, each piece possesses an individual character and distinct patina, imbued with history, built with pride, finished and shipped directly to you. Alex’s work will become an heirloom treasured for generations. Let it convey its story to you.

  • It's Wood Grain Wednesday and today we worked with peckey cypress! Salvaged from a historic home along the Ms. River, this variety of cypress was once considered too flawed for mill working so they buried it under the floors. Today we admire it's beautiful markings and use it to build our classic farmhouse tables. #doormandesigns #farmhouse #furnituredesign #handmade #nolahomes #instahome #instadecor #southern #nola
  • It's only Tuesday and we're dreaming of cool coastal vibes 🌴🌴with our Bermuda tables. Inspired by antique ship hatches, each piece of wood meticulously interlocks with copper nails that patina overtime. #doormandesigns #bermuda #coffeetable #coastalinteriors #instadecor #instahome #interiordesign #makers #woodworking #southern #noladesigner #nolahomes #furniture #midcenturymodern

  • Today's Wood Grain Wednesday find-a 1920s newspaper ad stuck to a piece of piece of cypress we salvaged from a house in the Treme neighborhood. Ladies hats for just $3.50 a pop! #doormandesigns #furniturewithastory #history #furniture #reclaimedwood #noladesigner #makers
  • Spent the day ripping down parts of old wooden barges to make some of our most popular tables. "Barge board" dates back to the early 1800s. After 🇺🇸 purchased Louisiana from 🇫🇷 Americans up north built barges and floated down river to New Orleans. Once here the boats were reused to build new homes. After nearly 175 years, we're giving it new life again as someone's coffee table! ♻️ #doormandesigns #recycle #gogreen #furniture #coffeetable #instahome #interiordesign #makers #louisiana #nola #noladesigner #wood #woodworking
