Doorman Designs Awarded for Master of Furniture Design

Our team was elated when we learned that we were picked by New Orleans Homes and Lifestyles Magazine for their 2017 “Design Masters” awards. We were awarded master of furniture design!
I remember the first time I picked up a copy of NOHL. It was 2009, shortly after college graduation and I had just moved to New Orleans. I was in my infinite stages of building furniture and was still learning how to properly use the most basic tools I had saved my money to buy.
I remember how well the magazine was laid out and the professional feel of New Orleans talented designers reemerging on to the scene in the wake of Hurricane Katrina. It was then, that I set myself a mental goal-I wanted my company to one day be featured on these pages! I didn’t know how or when, and to what capacity, but I could feel the pride inside of me and I knew that if I worked hard and continued to grow, that maybe one day myself and Doorman Designs could be included amongst New Orleans talented portfolio of artists, makers, and first-class designers.
The awards ceremony was held at the Southern Food and Beverage Museum along beautiful Oretha Castle Haley Blvd. There are 7 seven design master categories-Textiles, Draperies, Architecture, Interior Design, Home Accents, Furniture Design, Landscape Architecture, Kitchens, and Green Design. Congrats to all the talented folks included in this year’s class!
