You might have noticed we made some changes around here. We’ve launched a new website! This website update marks a new chapter for Doorman- we are launching a collection that focuses on thoughtful, sustainable design. With this we are recommitting to our purpose of creating furniture for the design enthusiast who seeks originality, understands their buying impact, and wants to live in a better world.
With our new website, we are launching Mailman— a living journal of all things Doorman. We know that once our furniture reaches your house, it becomes more than just furniture. Our table is where you share meals, dreams, or where your kids work on their homework. Our beds are where you relax at the end of the day, decompress, or fall into your favorite book. Our dresser it’s where you store your favorite t-shirts or it’s a home for lost socks. We are honored that our furniture is part of the objects that make up your life.
Of course, our lives revolve around these pieces. We dream them up, think about their components, send you emails about them, build them, finish them, and ship them off to you. We want to use this space to bring you into our world a bit more, bring you into our corner of the universe in our shop in Algiers point.
We hope to share about what we are thinking about- things that inspire us and things that excited us in our community. We hope to introduce you to new designers and like minded businesses, tell you what’s going on in New Orleans, bring you into the workshop and share how things are made, and tell you about new exciting materials and processes.
Expect entries introducing our new collection (hint, hint), deep dives into cypress, guest posts from our favorite designers, and some heart felt letters. We hope logging onto Mailman gives you that same warm and fuzzy feeling that you get from an unexpected letter in the mail.
Here’s to Mailman and more exploration together!
Perhaps the World Ends Here
A favorite poem of ours about all the life that happens on and around a kitchen table.
